CASE PROFILE
Diagnosis: Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris
History:
- 10 year old female patient
- Lesions progressive over 2 years
- No etiological factors known
- Palmar aspect of hands and plantar aspect of feet involved most prominently
- Itchy, painful and generalized discomfort
- Prior treatments include many ointments, cortisone creams, periodic dressings and oral medications
Physical Examination on Presentation at Meditech Clinic:- Several areas involved but most prominent in hands and feet
- Generalized scaling, excoriations and bleeding areas
Treatment at Meditech Rehabilitation Clinic:- Remove dressings
- Cease the utilization of all medications
- Laser treatment 3 times per week
Progress on the Above Regime:- Patient asymptomatic after 4 therapy sessions utilizing the BioFlex Laser System
Condition at Discharge:- Following 12 treatments, lesions barely visible
- No medications utilized
- Follow-ups will be made regarding recurrence which is not expected
