CASE PROFILE

 

Diagnosis: Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris
History:
  • 10 year old female patient
  • Lesions progressive over 2 years
  • No etiological factors known
  • Palmar aspect of hands and plantar aspect of feet involved most prominently
  • Itchy, painful and generalized discomfort
  • Prior treatments include many ointments, cortisone creams, periodic dressings and oral medications
Physical Examination on Presentation at Meditech Clinic:
  • Several areas involved but most prominent in hands and feet
  • Generalized scaling, excoriations and bleeding areas
Treatment at Meditech Rehabilitation Clinic:
  • Remove dressings
  • Cease the utilization of all medications
  • Laser treatment 3 times per week
Progress on the Above Regime:
  • Patient asymptomatic after 4 therapy sessions utilizing the BioFlex Laser System
Condition at Discharge:
  • Following 12 treatments, lesions barely visible
  • No medications utilized
  • Follow-ups will be made regarding recurrence which is not expected
